Calculating Your Water Bill

If you have a water meter installed in your home, you’ll only be billed for the water you use, plus a small standing charge. This fixed charge is based on where you live, and is reflective of the cost of abstracting water from the area.

Billing Date

The billing date is the billing period for the current bill. It is located in the top middle portion of your bill, just above the previous and current readings.

Electricity & Water Readings

The electricity & water readings show the previous meter reading and the current meter reading for the service period.

Monthly Utility Consumption

Your monthly utility consumption is the amount of water and electricity used during the billing period calculated as the difference between the previous meter reading and the current meter reading.

Address

Your address is the physical location in Montserrat where your utility services are provided. It includes the block & parcel number of the real property and/or P.O. Box number where utility services are provided.

Account Information

Your account information  contains the information regarding the utility account including account number, type of service, and block & parcel number.  The account number is required to make a payment and is located directly beneath the your address.

Utility Charges

Your utility charge is a detailed explanation of the bill charges and usage.

Address

Your address is the physical location in Montserrat where your utility services are provided. It includes the block & parcel number of the real property and/or P.O. Box number where utility services are provided.

Step#1: Identify your billing date. This is the period that your meter is read.

Example: 19/11/2020 – 18/12/2020

Step#2: Write down the previous meter reading, and the present meter reading based on the billing date.

Example 19/11/2020: 60 – 18/12/2020: 62

Step#3: Calculate the amount of water used by subtracting the present reading from the previous reading to determine your cost per gallon.

Example: (present reading) 62 – 60 (previous reading) =2 gallons

Step#4: Determine if you are billed at a domestic or commercial rate.

Domestic Calculation: 2000 gallons = $36.00

Example: Fixed cost = $5.00

Commercial Calculation: 2000 gallons @ 28= $56.00

Step#5: Determine your fixed cost by calling our office

Example: fixed cost= $5.00

Step#6: Add total cost to determine water usage

Domestic: 36+ 5 = $41.00

Commercial: 56 +5= $61.00
