Breakdown of Minimum Costs
A minimum usage fee is a charge that applies to customers who consume less than a certain amount of kWh per month.
- Customers in A group: a customer whose house/resident/dwelling is 0-1200 sq. footage
- Customers in B group: a customer whose house/resident/dwelling is 1201-infinity sq. footage

Step by Step Guide: Electricity Bill Cost
Step#1: Identify your billing date. This is the period that your meter is read.
Example: 19/11/2020 – 18/12/2020
Step#2: Write down the previous meter reading and the present meter reading based on the billing date.
Example 19/11/2020: 6017 – 18/12/2020: 6160
Step#3: Calculate the units by subtracting the present reading from the previous reading to determine how much electricity units were used.
Example: (present reading) 6160 – 6017 (previous reading) = 143KW units
Step#4: Determine whether you are a domestic or commercial customer
Domestic Customer Calculation
Block 1: first 75 units @ 0.48c
Block 2: all remaining units @ 0.55c
Fuel Surcharge: total units @ fuel surcharge rate
Example:
Block 1: 75 units @ 0.48c = $36.00
Block 2: 68 units (143-75 units) @ 0.55c = $37.40
FS: 143units @ 0.72c (variable cost) = $102.96
Commercial Customer Calculation
Block 1: all units @ 0.54c
Fuel Surcharge: total units @ fuel surcharge rate
Example
Block 1: 143 units @ 0.54c = $77.22
FS: 143units @ 0.72c (variable cost) = $102.96
Step#5: Total each cost to determine your monthly electricity charges.
Example: $ (36+ 36.2+ 102.96) = $176.36 Domestic charges
Example: $ (77.22 102.96) = $180.18 Commercial charges
