As set out in the Electricity Supply Act, customers pay a Basic Tariff (that recovers the cost of generating the electricity, maintaining the network and central costs such as meter reading, billing, accounting, and other overheads) and a Fuel Surcharge (that covers the cost of diesel in excess of the very small amount already factored into the Basic Tariff).

Customers are metered and billed monthly.

The Basic Tariff has remained unchanged since February 2001 - the Fuel Surcharge varies from month to month, and depends upon the average price that we paid for diesel the previous month.  There is no standing charge.
